  • Mark Graham - Easy breezy, you still get to eat what you want -- even if it's not EXACTLY what you want.

Extra weight -- it sneaks up on you. Daily overeating -- eating that actually feels normal -- easily adds one or two pounds of fat to your body weight a month. That's twelve to twenty-four extra pounds a year! No wonder we seem in the mirror to be getting fatter and fatter. When did it happen? Gradually -- over months and years. In which case, something like Get Fit in Bed: Tone Your Body & Calm Your Mind from the Comfort of Your Bed can be helpful -- especially if you're REALLY stuck in bed for whatever reason.

That's where this book comes in. And this isn't rocket science. Basically, you are given multiple restaurant and eating-at-home options -- and the best option is highlighted. Eat that, don't eat that. Just like it says on the tin. The calorie amounds are indicated, so you can keep track. While it can be sad to choose the lower-calorie item suggested, the authors do a reasonable job of selecting a tasty alternative.

The nutrition advice is decent, and the section about kids' eating is helpful, indeed. (Kids are picky eaters -- any help is appreciated.)

Overall, this book is a win. While some of the restaurant chains covered are not available nationwide (and many others are not covered at all in the book) the weight-loss information in this book is covered in a simple and accessible way. It makes that unholy activity -- calorie counting -- bearable and tasty. Recommended.

  • Dr. D - Colonic Bacteriotherapy

Align Probiotics is one of the finest supplements you can take. I must say that my bowel movements have substantially improved, and I've never had a bowel problem to begin with! Taking these pills is like putting the finest synthetic oil blend into your car's engine! Usually, I produce one of the most scrumptious bowel movements every 2 days. Now, I find myself going once a day scattered in between a few 2-day cycles.

It's as if I can feel and sense those glorious normal flora getting to work, knocking on the walls of my colon and erasing all the sludge and grime that may be lodged in my mucosal folds. You see, it all starts with a sense of "fullness." You KNOW you have to go do number two to an even greater extent once these supplements are in your system.

Besides increasing the number of bowel movements, Align has also bulked up the amount of my stool. When it comes out, I can easily produce a riveting symphony that lasts about 10 seconds in duration. That's 10 seconds of non-stop expulsion of stool in one continuously solid turd! I really should take pictures of my stool and send it into the Guinness Book of World Records. I guarantee you that I would be the record holder for the longest stool ever produced by a human being. It's so long that you can't even see where it begins! It's literally snaking its way INTO the toilet beyond what the eye can see!

Bottom line is that if you want the healthiest of stools, buy this product NOW. Your colon will thank you!

  • star wars mom - best advent calendar ever

My son, a diehard Star Wars fan, loves this advent calendar. Each day he cannot wait to open up his new Lego surprise. There are many characters that he has always wanted but couldn't get any other way. He is so excited to see what's next in each individual compartment. Instead of useless candy, this is a gift he can actually play with and enjoy!

  • Rebecca - The Novel itself is a Case of Mistaken Identity

Disguised as a thriller Brown uses his latest novel, set primarily in Florence, Venice and Istanbul as a delivery vehicle to share his moral concerns about human civilization in the 21st century, specifically overpopulation. The mathematical projections are indeed of grave concern. How can religious arbiters of morality in good conscience NOT promote birth control? Denial is clarified. To hammer the point, the reader is treated to an interlude in the Philippines, where parents sell their children into prostitution in the hope they at least will be fed and women are routinely raped. Repeated several times is this quote: "The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." Another quote from page 269 sums it all up."The WHO feels strongly that the widespread availability of contraception is one of the keys to global health - both to combat sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS and also for general population control.""And the Vatican feels differently?""Quite. They have spent enormous amounts of energy and money indoctrinating third-world countries in a belief in the evils of contraception."The point is made that the Italian Renaissance wouldn't have happened without the black death, which cleaned up the overcrowded cities and led artists and philosophers to question the moral authority of the ruling class - the plague indiscriminately killed kings and queens alongside the lower classes. The uses of deception and the human need to trust are key to the dramatic tension that drives the novel and keeps the reader guessing. Who are the bad guys? Is it us? Don't be fooled by the veneer of the art historical context made gripping by the expected Dan Brown mysteries, vocabulary, puzzles and art historical explanations, this time around primarily related to Dante's Inferno and Dante's lifetime. I will not spoil the intrigues: secret passages, plundered treasures, underground lagoons, masks, disguises, gondolas, gates, music....Read the book.
